01. February 2019 at 09:00
What makes a student good has to do with a lot of factors. But this article seeks to expound on the qualities of a good student. These qualities will improve every student learning capacity whether for a classroom or life.
There are different but similar definitions of who a student is. But, generally, the word ‘student’ denotes someone who is learning.

According to the Simple English Wikipedia, a student is a person who is learning something. Students can be children, teenagers, or adults who are going to school, but it may also be other people who are learning, such as in college or university. A younger student is often called a pupil. Usually, students will learn from a teacher or a lecturer if at university. They also do much reading. A student can also be a person studying for a specific profession. Where the teaching is called “training” the student may be called a “trainee.” (https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student)

Whatever level or field, a student is a student, because he or she has subject him/her self to learn, whether in the classroom or not. Life itself has made everyone at one point or the other, a student. Because we have learnt from past experiences.
What makes a student good has to do with a lot of factors. But this article seeks to expound on the qualities of a good student. These qualities will improve every student learning capacity whether for a classroom or life.

Quality #1: Willingness and Readiness
First of all, every good student must be willing and ready to learn. Willingness according to the oxford dictionary is the quality or state of being prepared to do something; readiness. (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/willingness)
Without the willingness there would be no interest in learning, and once there is no interest, all effort would be futile. So, every good student must be willing and ready to learn.

Quality #2: Teachable
Every good student must be teachable, having this “ever-ready” spirit to learn regardless of who their teacher is. Their main objective is to learn.

Quality #3: Submission
Submission in learning is a very important quality; as arrogance will do no good rather harm. When a student is submissive to his/her teacher. It boost the interest of the teacher to teach more. Every teacher likes students that are submissive. And every good students are submissive to learn.

Quality #4: Listening
Listening is the core in every form of communication. Teaching or learning is communication and without listening there would be no effective learning. So one of the quality of a good student is listening. A good student pays attention to the teacher or instructor and does not give in to distraction.

Quality #5: Able to give back
It is said that the best way to see if a student has understood a lesson is by asking the students for feedback in form of examination, quiz and assignment. This can also be checked if the student can be able to teach others what he/she has learnt.

These qualities cannot be exhausted here but these few above are conspicuous in every good student and without which, learning will not be effective.
