I don`t need YOU!
16. January 2019 at 22:52
Have you ever heard or said things like these:'You can do whatever and go wherever you like, I don't give a hoot 'cos I can live without you!' 'I have had it up to the neck with you. You are an eye sore and I don't ever want to relate with you again!''Leave my life alone! I don't need your friendship, neither do I need you. Go your way and I will go my way!'Why should they be said? I wonder...
I was close by a queue one day and I overheard a conversation between two ladies(corps members):

‘I had to go and rent my own room so I could be far from any other corps member. I know myself; I am hot-tempered and I do not take nonsense. So it is better I stay on my own to avoid troubles and I can tell you I am doing fine without anyone”!

As I looked her way, I saw the sincerity and seriousness with which she was letting out her mind and it got me thinking.

‘Why would we have so much troubles relating with others?’ Without a doubt, this kind of conversation might have been uttered by virtually every human being. The levels might be different; some could be milder than the other or even said playfully, but I tell you, almost everyone has had, at one point or the other moments when they had to conceive the thoughts or mutter them.

I am not unaware of the fact that we all have various experiences that would have made us take decisions like this but we will do ourselves so much good if we can t ell ourselves some truth; no one is the same anywhere. We are all peculiar and have our unique features. A quote reads thus: ‘No human relation gives possession in another – every two souls are absolutely different. In friendship or in love, the two sides by sides, raise hands together to find what one cannot reach alone’. That’s to a natural man. As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, the life we live is a communal one. Reading through the Acts of the Apostles and more so, the way Jesus lived on earth show that we are not expected to live our lives in isolation.

Everyone wants to stay alone in order to avoid trouble, believing that being with people or relating with people will cause some damages to them. Oftentimes, the retort has always accused others of causing the troubles not oneself. Several times we have talked in manners that portray us as saints and having no ability to hurt people but people hurting us rather. Whosoever sold that lie to us! Even the mere talk of wanting to stay on your own hurts-it puts others in a leprous state, if you know what I mean. It’s like every other person has a ‘disease’ or isn’t good enough and you are the only good person on planet earth but the scripture says, ‘one shall chase a thousand and two ten thousand’. It is the law of abundance and victory. In two is warmth, comfort and living better.

Relating with people is beyond staying with or around people. There are people that could be around others for a long period of time yet still have problems. So, whether you stay with people or not, relationship is paramount. I can tell from observation that the reason some do not want to stay around other people is because they are afraid they are going to be influenced. They do not want to be changed; Not wanting change is equal to mediocrity! Influence is not totally bad. If you know you are living correctly, it is an opportunity to affect others and make them live right, it is when you know you do not live correctly that you prefer living apart from people because you know you will be exposed.

It is surprising how many live their lives in fear. Some people fear change, not that they do not want to cause trouble but CHANGE! Relationship is a common ground of humans and it is continuous. For me, from discovery, I have come to know that one stage leads to the other, starting from the cradle, our family, to school(classmates); profession, job or career(colleagues), other platforms and then marriage.

So, to the lady who wants to be alone for instance, how are you going to handle your colleagues at work or your husband/his family. Do not defraud your self, rather get over yourself and live outside your box. The creator has blessed us with the gift of people, enhance it and live fine!
