Workout and Positivity

If you have ever struggled with seeking positivity in your life, you know how hard it is to stay positive when your mind keeps hitting you with negativity. People spend years looking for a way to inject their minds with positivity and fail to understand that the answer might just be a few blocks away from their home. The permanent solution to this dilemma is… going to the gym!!

Just saying things without any experience is not my habit and I have experienced what I’ve written in the above paragraph. There was a time in my life when I was the lowest of my lows. I was 17 at that time and I felt like nothing good is ever gonna happen to me. I used to feel so negative that I lock myself in my room and wouldn’t dare going out thinking that nothing good was going to come out of it.

I felt like this because I lost my parents at an early age and since then, I started thinking that the fates are not good to me and I’ll have to live like this. I used to think that only bad things can happen in my life. I still remember the time when I held my first camera and that was the happiest I had ever been in my life. However, by the time I was 16, even that happiness started to fade away.

I used to live with my aunt who wasn’t very nice to me. Sometimes I even thought that she hated me because she showed more affection to her biological kids (my cousins) than me. I experienced what you would call discrimination. It might sound like a very big word for this matter but that was exactly how I felt. She even broke my camera once because she was angry at someone else.

I felt so lonely and helpless that I started thinking that I’ll have to live like this for the rest of my life. I don’t know what gave me the strength to do it but I got up and fixed my camera myself. I clicked a few pictures and was looking at them at night when something in one of the pics caught my attention. It was a poster behind the girl who was modeling for me in the picture.

The poster was for a gym and I still remember what it said, “Change your life today… join our gym and experience the change”. I just needed a little bit of hope and the same was given to me by that poster. I didn’t sleep that night because I kept thinking about that poster and the gym. I got a feeling from my heart that this is what I needed. I wanted to join that gym so badly, however, I didn’t have enough money for the same.

That’s when I got an idea! I thought of using my talent in photography to earn money. So, I arranged a stall outside my school and I started taking amazing photos of the students after school. I charged really less compared to the other photographers with their photo studios. My stall got so popular because of the cheap rates that students started getting even their school photos (passport size/official photos) clicked by me.

After two or three months, I was able to save up enough money to buy myself a new camera and that gym membership. So, I joined the gym with the six months membership plan and the results I got in those six months were phenomenal. I started feeling fit, not only physically but mentally as well. I started going to the gym every morning and I would operate my stall in the afternoon (after school).

Finally, things started to change and I started feeling much more positive than I used to do before. This helped me in following my passion for photography and I entered and won a national level photography competition when I was 19-years-old. Since then I’ve been unstoppable. I opened my own photo studio and I started giving free of cost photography classes to unprivileged children and most of them are my protégés now.

I still go to the same gym and working out is a really essential part of my daily life. I never could’ve fathomed that something as simple as working out would help me in throwing out all of the negativity of my mind. Working out is the reason for my positive outlook on life today and I would recommend the same to anyone who needs positivity in life.

This was my story of how working out helped me in my life. If you need similar help as I got, you can try joining a gym or just working out for thirty to forty-five minutes daily. Trust me, you’ll soon notice a lot of changes in your life and way of thinking.
